Biography
I was born and brought up in London. I moved to Melbourne as a young teenager and have been bouncing between the UK and Australia ever since.
In Melbourne, I read philosophy, later studying photography and professional writing. I exhibited photographs in Sydney, packed up, and took my cameras to New York. After working behind the bar in King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and taking photographs of many of the characters, I was inspired to buy a typewriter and rekindle my passion for writing. I packed and went to London, where I now live part of the time.
I've won prizes for my short stories and written non-fiction books, catalogue essays and articles on contemporary art for magazines and newspapers. When not writing, I work as an editor and look after my young daughter.
